Editor’s Note:
After Day 1 of our “Churchill Downs Challenge Cup,” the “old man” of the group inched to a modest lead over the young, whipper-snapper and, to be honest, I was feeling quite confident in my old bones.
No more.
On Twilight Thursday, the “old man” took an ass-whipping. Like I deserved one.
Dennis Trusty had a stellar night — coaching home 4 winners in the 8-race card and nothing 3 victories over his rival — that being me.
The last 3 winners not only stood out at the wire, but that also stood out at the box office — paying the likes of $19.56, $19.76, and $18.54 for each $2 wagered for the win.
Nice. Well done. Way to go. Young man.
All of that gives Denis Trusty a 2-win margin going into today’s play.
Here’s hoping we do a little better and try to make a game of it, any way. On today’s 9-race card, we have three races where we have the same top pick. But that is very unusual,
Here we go.
