Sunday was a huge day at Ellis Park.

It was a day of celebration of the horse — with 6 Stakes events on the 10-race card, including the Ellis Park Derby.

It was a day of celebration of the college kids — as the KY HBPA handed out scholarships to those who are hoping to continue their education and life’s journey.

It was a day of celebration of Ellis Park — which is now witnessing a rejuvenation under the ownership of Churchill Downs, with record crowds spilling over into the picnic grounds and all the way to the rail for a close-up view of live thoroughbred racing action.
