Churchill Downs plans to add historical slot-like wagering also known as Instant Racing. The same gambling machines that have boosted nearby tracks such as Keeneland and Kentucky Downs. According to Louisville Business First, Churchill Downs was scheduled to make a push for the gaming option during the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission’s meeting at 1:30 on Tuesday in Frankfort.
It has been difficult for Churchill Downs to get approval but its not the first time the company has added slots to one of their locations. Churchill Downs has common slots at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans as well as several casinos. These historical racing machines are electronic like popular slot machines. A bet is made to handicap a previously run horse race. There is a case in front of the Franklin Circuit Court as to the legality of this form of gambling.
