(The Twin Spires are still standing tall over the grounds of Churchill Downs)

Editor’s Note:

It won’t be long now.

On Monday, horse vans arrived at the backside of Churchill Downs, loaded to the gills with both horses and equipment. They were deliberately checked in, and all the crew were administered tests and other protocols to ensure that all entering the premises were clear and free of the COVID-19 pandemic virus.

This Saturday, the first of the live races will be held under the long, lean and majestic Twin Spires at Churchill Downs for the beginning of the abbreviated Spring / Summer Race Meet. Races will be conducted — without spectators — for the remainder of May and June.

Live race dates will be Thursday through Sunday, and first post will be 1 p.m. Feel free to tune in to TwinSpires.com and you can both wager and watch all the Thoroughbred action.

It is good to see the grand lady for racing back in action.
