Here is a closer look at the “Trainer Standings” for the current race meeting at Ellis Park. Although he has not been tearing up the trainer standings at Saratoga, Steve Asmussen has been faring much better at “The Spa of the South.” Going into this week’s races, Asmussen has started 59 horses with 9 wins, 13 seconds and 9 thirds.  That is good enough to put him atop of the standings with just a couple of more weeks to go.
