Editor’s Note:

It was announced at Churchill Downs today that the USA Gymnastics Trails for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games, that will be hosted in Los Angeles, will be held in Louisville, KY.

The USA Gymnastics Team, one of the most popular and successful teams in the entire world, will be in Kentucky’s largest city to compete and earn a spot on the U.S. Team, that will compete for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals. The team is coming off a 10-medal performance at the last Olympics, which was held in Paris.

It may be that the Olympic Trials in 2028 may be the last year for gymnastics superstar and gold medalist Simone Biles.

Today’s press conference was attended by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg and a host of executives from Churchill Downs and the US Gymnastics Team.

The 4-day trails will begin on Friday, June 16. The main event will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center and there will be a developmental competition for the USA Gymnastics Championships that will coincide with the event, and will begin on June 5.

The event is expected to draw a crowd of approximately 6,000 participants, alone. More than 200,000 visitors are projected to visit the area, as well.
