We are going to take a little swing at the fences today at “The Shoe,” and in our bet for the “Donation Play of the Day.” We are going with Machts Nichts (1) in the 3rd race. This 3YO Indiana-bred gelding is a 12-1 shot in the Brisnet.com ML. Don’t know if that number will hold, but maybe we get a solid price working by post time.

Here’s the deal. The one, trained by Anthony Granitz, ran two super races a year ago at the sprint distance and broke the MSW last November. Came back on May 20 and was stretched out to a mile in the slop. That experiment didn’t work out too well.

Has trained great since, though, and gets a familiar rider on his back again. The addition of blinkers could move this one up a lot. Trainer wins with .17% of the last 29 to add the shades.

My Play: I bet $20 across the board on Machts Nichts (1) in the 3rd. 

All proceeds will go to assist the homeless veterans in the Indianapolis area and will be donated in the name of Horseshoe Indianapolis and its’ VP for Racing Eric Halstrom.
