(Our Jack Christopher filly)

Any time I run up on a pedigree that I either know, or that I love, when I am actually handicapping a race, I stop to smell the roses. And, I do a little investigative reporting, so to speak.

Such a thing happened this morning when I was perusing the past performances on Brisnet.com of the first race at Horseshoe Indy. The first race is for 2YO colts going a whopping 5 furlongs. It didn’t take me long before I came to a halt.

The #4 horse is by the young, brilliant-looking, and brilliantly-fast stallion Jack Christopher, who stands at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Versailles, KY. I happen to know a little something, something about this stallion. After all, we have bred two mares to him already and we have a beautiful, little filly out of our own Diamond Solitaire — who made her living at Horseshoe Indy.

Did’t take me long to be lost in a myriad of rabbit holes.

Didn’t take me long to know that this young guy — who sold for $100,000 at the 2025 KEE September Yearling Sale — was going to be my “Donation Play of Today.”

The dam of this 2YO is As the Snow Flies, who has already thrown one winner from one to race. And, this newbie looks to be much like his father, if morning works prove anything. He looks and he acts fast. At least he does in the a.m. works. He already has tossed out a couple of bullet moves over the Keeneland surface for trainer Steve Asmussen.

So, today, I add Jack’s Back (4) to our growing list of horses to debut on the “Donation List.” And, I bet $20 to win and place.

All proceeds will go to benefit the Homeless Veterans of Indianapolis at the end of this year’s 2026 race meet, coming this November.

Why don’t you join with us. It is fun. It is for a great cause. And, it never hurts to help someone who needs it.

Try it.
