Gene McLean interviews Joe Kristufek, one of the industry’s best racing analysts and handicappers. The two take a look at Churchill Downs card including three Stakes races as well as preview the tremendous Stakes schedule at Santa Anita.

Churchill Downs will feature three straight Stakes races on Today, starting with the 41st running of the Jefferson Cup, which is carded as Race 8.  The second leg of the all-Stakes Pick 3 will be the Grade 3, $200,000 Lukas Classic, named after Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas.  The final stakes of the day will be the 25th running of the Grade 3 Ack Ack Stakes.

Santa Anita, on the other hand, will feature 5 Graded Stakes races, all of which are “Win and You’re In” for the Breeders’ Cup Championship Series, which will be held at Del Mar the first weekend in November.

The Stakes action begins in Race 5 at Santa Anita with the G1 Zenyatta Stakes. That will be followed in Race 7 with the G1 Chandelier Stakes, Race 8 with the G1 Front Runner Stakes, Race 9 with the G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes, and Race 10 with the G1 Awesome Again Stakes. The race day will conclude with the Unzip Me Stakes down the hill in Race 11.
