Here’s a look at today’s top works around the country:

1. Society: This 5YO Gun Runner mare is a multiple Graded Stakes winner for trainer Steve Asmussen. Has 7 wins and a third in 12 lifetime starts, and has earned over $1.539 million in purses. So far. She worked at Churchill Downs this morning and clocked an easy 3 furlong move in :39 flat. It was the first recorded and published work for the gal since her 4th place finish in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint last November. Society has 3 Graded Stakes wins, including the G1 Cotillon Stakes at Parx in 2022. She beat the likes of Secret Oath, Green Up and Adare Manor in that one. Great to see her back at the track.

2. Tamara: This 3YO daughter by Bolt d’Oro is better known for her mother — who just so happens to be the great Beholder. In 3 lifetime starts, so far, she has 2 wins — including a victory in the G1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes last September. Tamara finished the year with a disappointing 7th (after setting a torrid pace) in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, which was won by Just F Y I. That filly just ran 2nd in the Ashland Stakes at Keeneland this past weekend. Tamara got her 2nd published work since rejoining the barn of HOF trainer Richard Mandella in April. Went 2 furlongs over the All Weather surface at Santa Anita this morning in :23.80. Starting to leg back up, which is a great thing for racing. And, the entire sport.

3. Flattery: This 3YO filly, by Flatter, worked this morning at Santa Anita, as well. Went 5 furlongs over the All Weather surface in 1:00.80. That was the 2nd best time out of 7 to go that way and it was the 4th published work for the gal since returning to serious training on March 18. This gal won the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes last September and then was 3rd in the G3 Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita. She was 12th in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in November to finish up the 2YO season. Trainer Peter Eurton has this one on a plan to renew the 2024 year soon.
