Updated Statistics for McLean Selections in 2026

We have finally been able to spend 11/2 days doing little, to nothing else, other than calculations and mathematics. But, I am happy to announce, we are now fully up to date on our statistics for the 2026 calendar year.

That’s a big “Heck, Yes,” for all the back-breaking and mind-blowing inserts into the spread sheets from the last month of racing selections and activities.

We will strive to do better to keep our stats up to date each day and each week. Strive, though, is the key word.

Overall, the top pick is winning at a 33.58% rate. That’s about the favorite’s average, throughout the years past. But, to be frank, it is so much better than I normally do over the Tapeta All-Weather track, where I have traditionally struggled to keep pace.

The “Top Pick in the Money” number is about average for me at Turfway Park, but is about 6 to 7 percentage points behind my normal model. That will come with the switch to the traditional dirt and turf courses, I believe and hope.

The most embarrassing number, though, is our percentage in the “Key Horses,” category. Last year, we had a career-best number, but we are off to a stumbling start. So far, overall, we are winning with about .37%. That is about .20% points below average for me, through the years. The “In the Money” percentage number, so far, is about 20% points off, as well. I’m hoping this pattern corrects itself soon, especially after we switch to more traditional track surfaces.
