WAGERING ON MESQUITE SUSPENDED IN KENTUCKY DERBY FUTURE WAGER POOL 4
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Friday, Feb. 13, 2026) – Wagering on Mesquite in Pool 4 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager has been suspended due to a suspected soft tissue injury that removed him from Kentucky Derby consideration.
Trainer Cherie DeVaux reported to Daily Racing Form’s Dave Grening on Thursday that Mesquite, who had been targeting the March 1 Rebel (GII), is off the Derby trail and would be examined next week by Dr. Larry Bramlage in Kentucky.
The defection of Mesquite came prior to the pool opening Friday at noon (all times Eastern). The three-day wager will close Sunday at 6 p.m.
