Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.  We will keep a keen eye and stopwatch to see who may be working well:

  1. Belvoir Bay, a 5YO Irish-bred mare by Equiano and trained by Peter Miller, trained this morning at Del Mar. The mare — who has won 3 of 5 starts this year, with a second in the bag, as well — went an easy half mile in :49.60. That was the third best time out of 4 to go the distance. So far this year, this mare won three straight in the Mizdirection Stakes, the G3 San Simeon Stakes, and the G2 Monrovia Stakes — all at Santa Anita. Came back to run fifth in the G1 Highlander Stakes at Woodbine in June (the only time off the board this year), and then run second in the G3 Buffalo Trace Franklin County at Keeneland. Wait till this one returns to Santa Anita. She loves it there.
  2. Roy H, a 6YO gelded son of More Than Ready, has won 3 of 5 this year for Peter Miller, as well, and has a second and a third in his resume, to boot. Was last seen winning the G1 TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Churchill Downs on Nov. 3. That was his second straight victory, coming on the heels of the G1 win in the Santa Anita Sprint Championship. Got his fourth published work since the BC victory this morning at Del Mar. Went an easy half in :49.20. That was the 2nd fastest time out of the 4 early on. He will probably show up at Santa Anita when the racing returns there on Dec. 26. Loves that dirt.
  3. Stormy Liberal, another Breeders’ Cup winner for the Peter Miller band, went 5 furlongs this morning over the dirt surface at Del Mar in a nice 1:01.80. The 6YO Stormy Atlantic gelding was the bullet move of the day out of the first 7 to make that distance. He has not run since his win in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (his second such victory, having won it in 2017 at Del Mar). But he is working his way back to you, alright. Last seen at Santa Anita, he won the G3 Eddie D Stakes on Sept. 28.
