We are back looking at the daily workout schedule from around the country. Every day (Some days?), we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.

We are back…Take a look:

  1. Roadster, a former pupil of the embattled Bob Baffert and now a regular student at Keeneland, worked this morning in Lexington. The 5YO son of Quality Road — who is a Graded Stakes winner of G1 Santa Anita Derby — went 3 furlongs in a time of :38.20 over the main track. That was the 8th best time out of 20 to clock the distance, but it was the first reported and published work for this colt, too. Has not run since finishing 4th in the G2 Alysheba Stakes on KY Oaks Day. Has not won a race since that Santa Anita Derby win in 2019. Long time between sips of H2O. Be interesting to see when and where this one returns to action. Here’s hoping the very best for the horse — who has won nearly $890,000 in purses, to date.
  2. Carillo, a 3YO son of Union Rags and trained by Tom Amoss, is another on the comeback trail at Keeneland. This one — who cost $875,000 to buy at this year’s KEE January Sale from the consignment of Lane’s End Farm — broke the MSW on debut at Aqueduct in January. Came back in the G2 Risen Star Stakes in the very next outing and ran a distant 10th and beat only one horse. Has been off the grid since. Got his 3rd published work this morning since being returned to serious training on July 16. Went 4 furlongs in a brilliant :47 flat. That was the bullet move out of 64 to go the distance. Wow time. Be fun to watch this one progress. Stay tuned.
  3. Lucky Boss, a 2YO son of Street Boss and trained by Ken McPeek, came off his MSW won at Ellis Park last time out with an impressive work today at KEE. Went 4 furlongs in the same time of :47 flat as the one above. Tied for that bullet. This one has a win and a fourth in two career starts, to date, and may be pointed to the 2YO Stakes at the ole’ “Pea Patch” next time out.
  4. Tiz the Bomb, another talented 2YO in the shed for McPeek, worked this morning in Lexington, as well. This one clocked the 4 furlong distance in :48.20. Like his counterpart above, this one broke the MSW in the 2nd career start and last out at Ellis Park. That came on July 2. Should ready for another turn or two. Connections paid a whopping $330,000 for this one at the Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling Sale a year ago. That’s a lot for a son of Hit It a Bomb. Sire? Doesn’t seem to matter to this guy. Can run.
  5. Katesaluckygirl, a 3YO Pennsylvania-bred owned by Daniel McConnell and trained by J. Tyler Servis, worked on Thursday at Parx Racing. She went 4 furlongs in a snappy :47.88, which was the bullet time out of 11 to cover the main dirt track on the day. This one broke the MSW last time out at Penn National, drawing off to win by nearly 5 lengths in impressive fashion. In 6 career starts now, she has a record of 1-2-1 and may be looking for more in the very near future — by the looks of that training session. Look out. Great connections behind this one. Remember Prince Lucky, who was trained by Todd Pletcher. Same folks. Same pedigree. Deserve the best.
