Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.

  1. Comical, a 3YO Into Mischief filly trained by Doug O’Neill, worked at the Fair Grounds this morning. The Graded Stakes winner breezed 5 furlongs over the main dirt track in 1:01.40. That was the bullet move of the day out of 5 that clocked the distance. This one is coming off a 7th place finish to the grand British Idiom in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita. But she is well accomplished and has the looks of a possible KY Oaks contender. She won the G3 Schuylerville at Saratoga. Ran 3rd in the G1 Del Mar Debutante. Was 2nd in the  G1 Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita. Was beaten just a neck by Bast in that one. Credentials are there. Let’s see how the 3YO season goes.
  2. Math Wizard, a 4YO son of Algoritims and trained by Saffie A. Joseph, Jr., worked at Gulfstream Park this morning. The upset winner of the G1 Pennsylvania Derby last September at Parx went an easy half mile in :49.28. That was the 5th best time out of 7 to clock the distance this morning. It was the colt’s 4th published work since running 5th in the Breeders’ Cup Classic last November at Santa Anita. Will be interesting to see where this one will be pointed next. Stay tuned.
  3. Newspaperofrecord, a 4YO Irish-bred daughter of Lope de Vega and trained by Chad Brown, worked at the Palm Meadows Training facility in South Florida this morning. She has not been out since running 9th in the G1 Belmont Oaks last July at Belmont Park. Got her 2nd published work since returning to serious training just a couple of weeks ago and went an easy 3 furlongs in :38.80 this morning. That was 4th best out of 5 to contest the clock and distance over the turf going. Long ways to go until you see her back in the afternoons, but don’t forget this one captured the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs in 2018. Talent is there.
  4. Rushing Fall, another superstar in the barn of Chad Brown, worked at Palm Meadows this morning, as well. The 5YO daughter of More Than Ready went 3 furlongs over the turf in :38.60. That was the 3rd best time out of the 5. This gal has not run since running 4th in the G1 First Lady at KEE last October. But in 11 career starts, she has 8 wins and 2 seconds. Has earned over $2.0 million in purses. First work back. But delighted to see the name on the work schedule.
