Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.  We will keep a keen eye and stopwatch to see who may be working well:

  1. Coach Rocks, a 4YO daughter of Oxbow and a Graded Stakes winner for trainer Dale Romans, worked this morning at Churchill Downs. She went a half mile in :48.40, which was the 6th best time out of 25 to work the distance this morning. To date, she has only 2 wins in 13 starts. But one of those victories came in the G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks. In addition to the 2 wins, though, she has 5 seconds and 2 thirds and has earned over $369,000 in purses. Look for more next time out.
  2. Explorer, a 3YO Orb colt trained by Bob Baffert, is coming off a second place finish in an allowance event at Keeneland on April 26. Worked this morning at Churchill Downs in brilliant fashion. Went a half in :47 flat. That was the bullet time out of the 25. This one could turn out to be a real talent. Stay tuned.
  3. Midnight Bisou, winner of 8 races out of 14 starts for trainer Steve Asmussen, worked this morning under the Twin Spires. The Midnight Lute filly went an easy half-mile in :48.80. That was 10th best out of the 25. This talented filly has started the year with 3 straight wins — including the G1 Apple Blossom Stakes at Oaklawn Park on April 14. She has now earned over $2.4 million. One of the best fillies in training today. Don’t miss a chance to watch this one run.
  4. Dream Tree, a 4YO Uncle Mo filly who has won 5 of 7 lifetime races, worked this morning at Churchill Downs for trainer Bob Baffert. After winning the first 5 tries in her career, she has been off the board in the last two and has been rather dull in each. Today, she went 5 furlongs in 1:00.80 — which was 6th best out of 20 to go that far. Hoping for a return to excellence for this one.
  5. Sir Truebadour, a 3YO More Than Ready colt trained by Steve Asmussen, has not raced since finishing 6th in the Skidmore Stakes at Saratoga last August. Got his 4th published work since April 3 today at Churchill Downs, going 5 furlongs in 1:01.40. That was 11th of 20. Working his way back to you. A good one.
  6. Tenfold, a 4YO Curlin colt and trained by Asmussen, worked 5 furlongs in 1:00.80 at Churchill Downs. That was the 6th best time out of the 20. This one has not been the same runner and horse since winning the G2 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga last July. Looked to be a really good one when running third in the Preakness last year to Justify. Now is coming off three straight starts where he has been 7th, 4th, and 7th. Be nice to see this one return to glory.
