Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.  We will keep a keen eye and stopwatch to see who may be working well:

  1. Great Sense, a 3YO son of Street Sense and trained by Ian Wilkes, is entered to run at Ellis Park on Aug. 10. Tuned up for that appearance with a very sharp breeze at Churchill Downs this morning. Went a half mile in :48.60 — which was he 3rd best time out of 41 to test that distance this morning. In his only start to date, Great Sense was 5th in a MSW event at Churchill Downs last November. This a.m.’s work was his 7th published move since June 27. Looks ready. May want to take a shot with this one.
  2. Tap Gun, a well-bred son of Tapit and cost $1.4 million to purchase as a KEE September Yearling, worked this morning under the Twin Spires for trainer Tom Amoss. Went a very nice 5 furlongs in 1:00.80, which was the 2nd fastest time out of 11 to mark the distance. Has not run since finishing 5th in an allowance at Churchill Downs last November. But today’s move was the 4th published work since July 12. Will be ready soon to resume the afternoon stuff. Bears watching.
  3. Game Winner, a 3YO son of Candy Ride and trained by Team Baffert, worked this morning at Del Mar. Went 5 furlongs in 1:01.20, which was the 13th best time out of 25 to go the distance. Reports was that it was purely a maintenance move like morning for the winner of the G3 Los Alamitos Derby last time out on July 13. That was the 2YO Champ’s first win of 2019. And, he looked mighty good doing it. May be primed and ready to fire in the G1 Travers at Saratoga in the next out. I’ll be wagering on him.
  4. Endorsed, a 3YO son of Medaglia d’Oro and trained by Kiaran McLaughlin for Godolphin Stables, ran a huge 2nd in the Curlin Stakes at Saratoga on July 26. Lost that event by less than 2 lengths to the rapidly-developing Highest Honor, despite being wide for much of the 11/8th-mile test. Was back in training this morning over “The Spa’s” main dirt track, and clocked a half mile in an easy :49.03. Still, that was the 5th best time out of 23 to go that far. In 4 career starts, Endorsed has 2 wins and a 2nd. Look for more out of this one. Lots to offer.
