Nearly?) Every day (Some days?), we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.

We are back…Take a look:

  1. Royal Prince, a 3YO son of Cairo Prince and trained by Brad Cox, worked at Ellis Park on Monday. This multiple Stakes winner — who is coming off a nice 2nd to Next in the War Chant Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 26 — went an easy 4 furlongs in :50.20. That was the 42nd best time out of 51 to clock the distance. This one is likely to hunt a grass Stakes at the “Pea Patch” soon.
  2. Sally’s Curlin, a 5YO daughter of Curlin and trained by Dale Romans, worked at Ellis Park on Monday, as well. This multiple Graded Stakes winner was sent to the breeding shed earlier this year and was booked to the grand stallion Tapit. But she got to the shed late in the season and only made one cover. Now, she is back in training, and got her first published work in some time. Went 4 furlongs in :49.60. That was 33rd best of 51. Here’s hoping she can recapture the glory.
  3. Warrior’s Charge, a 5YO son of Munnings and another from the barn of Brad Cox, worked on Monday at Ellis Park. This multiple Graded Stakes winner — who was 2nd to the magnificent Maxfield in the G2 Stephen Foster last time out — went 4 furlongs in :49 flat. That was the 20th best time out of 51 to go that far. Look for more out of this one soon.
  4. Shedaresthedevil, a spectacular 4YO filly by Daredevil and trained by Cox, worked at Ellis Park on Monday, too. The KY Oaks Champ of 2020 — who was 3rd in the G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes last time out — went 5 furlongs in :59.20. That was the bullet move out of 18 to clock the distance. She is wonderful. In 14 career starts, she has a record of 7-2-4 and earned nearly $2 million. More to come. Just watch.
  5. Mac’s Time, a highly-touted 2YO son of Not This Time and owned by the Albaugh Family, smoked his first work at Ellis Park on Monday. Went 4 furlongs in :47.40, which was the fastest time out of 51 to go that distance. This guy is named after two of my great friends and followers, Gary and Stephen McIntyre. Can’t wait to see this guy make the starting gate for the first time. Rooting for all of these connections.
  6. Mintd, a 5YO mare by Olympic Glory and trained by Brendan Walsh, worked at Saratoga this morning. This Graded Stakes winner — who just captured the G3 Old Forester Mint Julep Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 12 — went 3 furlongs in :39.97. That was the 5th best time out of 6 to go over the dirt training track at “The Spa.” She has won the last two and now has 4 wins in 9 career starts. More to come here.
