(Nearly?) Every day (Some days?), we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.

We are back…Take a look:

  1. Casa Creed, a Graded Stakes winner by Jimmy Creed and trained by Bill Mott, got in his final work for the G1 Jaipur Stakes this morning at Belmont Park. The 5YO bay horse worked 3 furlongs over the dirt training track in :36.88. That was the 3rd best time out of 39 to go the distance. Last time out, this one won the Elusive Quality Stakes on April 24 at Belmont Park. Before that, he was 6th in the G1 Kilore Mile at Santa Anita and 2nd in the G3 Tropical Turf Stakes at Gulfstream Park. In 19 lifetime tries, this one has a record of 4-3-3 and has earned over $535,000 in purses. The Jaipur will be contested at 6 furlongs on the sod. In the field are Bound for Nowhere, Oleksandra, Fast Boat, Stubbins, Sombeyay and Got Stormy. Wow.
  2. Chewing Gum, another Mott-trained horse entered for the G1 Jaipur, worked at Belmont Park today, as well. This one went the same distance at the same time. Last time out, this one was 2nd in an allowance event at Belmont Park on May 14. Last time in Stakes company, this one was 2nd n the G3 Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational last October. In 17 career starts, this one has a 3-3-6 mark and has earned just over $300,000 in purses. The son of Candy Ride figures to be a longshot this weekend.
  3. Ny Traffic, a 4YO son of Cross Traffic and trained by Saffie Joseph, Jr., worked this morning at Belmont Park, too. This one won the 2021 debut on May 2, winning an allowance event at Belmont. In 12 lifetime tries now, he has a 3-3-2 mark. Was off after his 9th place finish in the 2020 Preakness Stakes until this May. Went 4 furlongs in :48.77 today. That was the 4th best time out of 22 to clock the distance. Look for more from this one very soon.
  4. Nova Rags, a 3YO son of Union Rags and another trained by Bill Mott, worked for this weekend’s G1 Woody Stephens Stakes this morning at Belmont Park. Went 4 furlongs over the dirt training track in a time of :48.33. That was the 9th best time out of 83 to go that far. Last time out, this one was 2nd in the G3 Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont. Before that, he was 4th in the G1 Florida Derby and 2nd in the G3 Sam F. Davis at Tampa Bay. This one may enjoy the shorter, sprint distance in the Woody Stephens. Look out.
  5. Mischiefful, a 3YO son of Into Mischief and trained by Ian Wilkes, has won once and run 2nd on two other occasions. Ran 4th last time out at Churchill Downs. Was odds-on that day and didn’t fire. Worked at Churchill Downs today, going 4 furlongs in :46.40. That was the bullet move out of 32 to go that distance. Look for more out of this one very soon. That kind of work shows that there is something to get excited about here. For sure.
