Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.

  1. Carotari, a 4YO son of Artie Schiller and trained by Brian Lynch, worked at Churchill Downs this morning. The gelding — who is coming off a very nice win in the KY Downs Preview Turf Sprint Stakes at Ellis Park on Aug. 2 — breezed 4 furlongs in :48.60 over the main dirt track. That was the 6th best time out of 39 to clock the distance. In 4 starts this year, this one has a 2-1-1 mark — including a win in the Silks run Stakes and a second in the World of Trouble Turf Spring at Gulfstream Park earlier this year. Next up? Kentucky Downs here we come.
  2. No Parole, a 3YO Louisiana-bred son of Violence and trained by Tom Amoss, work a hole in the wind this morning under the Twin Spires. The colt — who has won 5 of 7 lifetime starts, but is coming off an inexplainable 9th in the G1 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes at Saratoga in the last outing — breezed 4 furlongs over the main dirt surface in a blistering :46.20. That was the bullet move out of 39 to cover the distance today. Looked good doing it. Looked good coming out of it. More to come.
  3. She’sonthewarpath, a 4YO daughter of Declaration of War and trained by Steve Margolis, worked this morning at Churchill Downs, as well. This one won the Indiana General Assembly Distaff Stakes at Indy Grand two back and returned to run 2nd in the KY Downs Preview Ladies Turf Stakes last time out. In 5 starts this year, she has 3 wins and a second. Worked a maintenance-like half mile today in :50.40. That was 26th best of the 39. Appears ready for the next stop at KY Downs.
  4. Authentic, a 3YO son of Into Mischief and a prime contender for this year’s 146th running of the KY Derby for trainer Bob Baffert, worked this morning at Del Mar. Went 6 furlongs in 1:13.40 over the main dirt track and that clocked out to the be the bullet move of 3 to cover the distance. In 5 career starts, Authentic has 4 wins and a second. The only loss came to Honor A.P. in the G1 Santa Anita Derby, when Authentic was running off a 3-month layup. Made the lead easy in the G1 Haskell and kind of fell asleep with jockey Mike Smith nearing the finish. But don’t fall asleep on this one the First Saturday in September.
