Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.  We will keep a keen eye and stopwatch to see who may be working well:

  1. Got Stormy, a 4YO daughter of Get Stormy and trained by Mark Casse, worked over the Casse Training Center dirt track on Tuesday. This Graded Stakes winner captured the G3 Ontario Colleen Stakes at Woodbine on July 21 last year. Now has 4 wins and 2 thirds in 10 lifetime starts. She worked on Tuesday, going 5 furlongs in 1:01.40. That was the bullet move out of 3 to go the distance. This was the fourth published work since Jan. 22 for the filly that was sold for a modest $45,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midatlantic Sale in 2017. Should be ready soon.
  2. Tenfold, who ran third to the great Justify in the 2018 Preakness Stakes and then was fifth in the Belmont Stakes for trainer Steve Asmussen and the Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC, worked at the Fair Grounds on Tuesday. The beautiful son of Curlin went 5 furlongs in a nice 1:00.40. That was the bullet move out of 11 to go that distance. Tuesday’s work was the fifth published move for the 4YO, and he should be ready to make the 2019 debut soon. Watch out.
  3. Morning Molly, a 3YO filly by Morning Line and trained by the affable Tom Proctor, worked this morning at the Fair Grounds. This one, who cost a reasonable $45,000 at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, ran 6th in her debut earlier this meet in New Orleans. But she could be ready to fire next time out. She got her third published work since that race today, and went 5 furlongs in 1:00.80. That was the bullet time out of the first 15 to go the distance, and it was her second straight bullet move. Morning Molly was extremely wide in her debut race, going 6 furlongs over a sealed racetrack. Maybe didn’t like the surface or the kickback that day. Looks primed and ready now. Watch out.
  4. Bravazo, the gutty 4YO colt by Awesome Again and trained by D. Wayne Lukas, worked this morning at Oaklawn Park. Coming off a fourth place finish in the G1 Pegasus World Cup behind City of Light, Bravazo went a half mile in :49 flat. That was the 2nd fastest time out of the 36 to go the distance, in his first published work since the race. Although he has won only 3 races in his lifetime, Bravazo has earned over $2.0 million for owner Calumet Farm. Tough son of a gun.
  5. Super Steed, a 3YO son of Super Saver and trained by J. Larry Jones, worked at Oaklawn Park today, as well. This one, who ran a disappointing 7th in the Smarty Jones Stakes in Hot Springs on Jan. 25, went 5 furlongs in 1:01.80. That was the bullet move out of 15 to go the distance. He may improve with a dry track, and may be pointed next to the Southwest Stakes. Stay tuned.
  6. Jaywalk — winner of 4 in a row, including the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies — got a significant work this morning at the Palm Meadows Training Center in South Florida. The Cross Traffic filly, trained by John Servis, went 6 furlongs in 1:12.40. She was the only one to go that far today, and it marked her fifth published work since returning to training on Jan. 11. Should be ready to set sail on her run for the KY Oaks soon. Watch out.
  7. Game Winner, undefeated 2YO Champ of a year ago, worked this morning at Santa Anita for trainer Bob Baffert. The 3YO son of Candy Ride — who won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in his last start and is now the #1 candidate for the 2019 KY Derby — went 5 furlongs in 1:01.60. That was the 8th best time out of 20 to go that far. It was his fifth published work since his return to serious training on Jan. 9. Headed to the San Felipe.
  8. Improbable, another undefeated colt that resides in the barn of Baffert, worked today at Santa Anita, as well. This son of City Zip went 6 furlongs in 1:12.80, which was the bullet move out of 3 to go the distance. The last time we saw this chap, he was winning the G1 Cash Call Futurity at Los Alamitos. Many consider this guy to be the main competition for Game Winner along this year’s “Road to the KY Derby.” We shall see. Nothing surprises me when it comes to Bob Baffert. And, the KY Derby.
