We are back looking at the daily workout schedule from around the country. Every day (Some days?), we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country. We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers. Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know. Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.
We are back…Take a look:
- Chi Town Lady, a 2YO daughter of Verrazano and trained by Wesley Ward, worked at Keeneland on Tuesday. This gal — who is a perfect 1-for-1 after breaking the maiden in the debut effort at Keeneland in April — is working her way back to the afternoons. She got her 7th published work on Tuesday since being returned to serious training on June 15. Went 4 furlongs over the main dirt track in :48.60. That was the 6th best time out of 56 to go the distance. Look for the one to hit the entry box soon.
- Lucci, a 2YO Not This Time colt also trained by Ward, has not started since running a very game and impressive 5th at Royal Ascot in mid-June, worked at KEE on Tuesday, as well. This one, who broke his maiden at Belmont Park in May, went 4 furlongs over the dirt track in :50.40. It was his first published work since returning from the “pond experience.” Connections paid $290,000 for this one at the Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling Sale in 2020. Look for more out of this one before the year is done.
- Thoughtfully, a 3YO daughter of Tapit and trained by Steve Asmussen, worked at KEE on Tuesday, too. This gal — who sold for a whopping $950,000 at the Fasig-Tipton August Sale in 2019 — has not started since running 7th in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile last November. But? She won her first two career starts — including the G2 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga and was 4th in the 2020 G1 Alcibiades Stakes, too. She got her 7th published work since being returned to serious training on June 17. Went 5 furlongs in 1:02 flat. That was the 3rd best time out of 11 to go that far. Take note here. Looks about ready to return. And, with this breeding?
- Alydiva, a 3YO daughter of Quality Road and trained by Mark Casse, worked at Saratoga this morning. This one has come on of late, having broken the maiden and run a game 2nd in the last two outings at Churchill Downs. Went 4 furlongs in :48.20 at “The Spa” today. That was 4th best of 18 to go that distance. This one ran 2nd to Gote Go last time out and was coming at the end. The dam, Alydorable, is a Stakes-placed winner by Arch. Lots to like here.
- HORSE TO WATCH: Gunoe: This is a 2YO son of Into Mischief and out of the Graded Stakes-placed winner Curlina. Was purchased at the 2020 KEE September Yearling Sale for a smooth $1 million by the OXO Equine from the Gainesway Farm consignment. Has not started yet, but got his 8th published work on Tuesday since starting his serious training regiment on June 5. Went 5 furlongs over the main dirt track at Ellis Park in 1:00.40. That was the 3rd best time out of the 14 to clock the distance. The work a week before? The 2nd best of 12. Looks the part. Acts the part. Coming to a racetrack near you soon. Take note.
