Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country.  We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers.  Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know.  Some of them, you may not know — as of yet.  We will keep a keen eye and stopwatch to see who may be working well:

  1. Seek N Justice, a 2YO colt by Caleb’s Posse and our very own prospect, got his second published work on Sunday morning. The June foal went 3 furlongs at Churchill Downs for trainer Buff Bradley in a nice time of :37.40. That was the third best time out of 11 to work that distance. He ships to the Fair Grounds today. Hopefully, we will see him soon.
  2. Hetty G., a 2YO filly by Super Saver and owned in part by my partner and great friend Mike Schnell, worked at Churchill Downs on Sunday, as well. She went a snappy 4 furlongs in :47.80 — which was the third best time out of 69 to work the distance. So far, she has raced twice without much luck — but hope springs eternal.
  3. Seven Trumpets, a 3YO colt by Morning Line and trained by Romans, worked at Churchill Downs on Sunday, as well. He went a half-mile in :47.60 — which was the bullet move of the day. This one recently ran 8th in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, but that was the first time he has missed the board in the last five Stakes starts — including a second in the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes at Saratoga. Look for this speedster to show up at Gulfstream Park soon.
  4. Snapper Sinclair, a 3YO City Zip colt trained by Steve Asmussen, appeared to get back to his old self in his last race. He ran a nice second in an allowance at Churchill Downs when returned to the dirt and a route race. This one looked to be on the Triple Crown trail earlier this year when he ran a nice second in the G2 Risen Star and then followed that up with a fifth in the G2 Louisiana Derby at the Fair Grounds. But he was off for nearly 7 months after that race. Look for him to show up in New Orleans again soon.
  5. Promises Fulfilled, a 3YO Shackleford colt who has had a magnificent 2018 year after he was returned to the sprints, worked at Churchill Downs on Sunday, as well. This one had his 3-race win streak snapped in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint when he tired to run fourth at Churchill Downs. But he looked good on Sunday, working 5 furlongs in 1:02.80 — which was the 25th fastest time out of 35 to go the distance. The winner of the Phoenix and the Jerkens Stakes should be a force this winter at Gulfstream.
