Every day, we scour the work tabs at racetracks all over the country. We are looking for workouts that may be of interest and helpful to you — as both race fans and handicappers. Some of the horses we will be tracking, you will know. Some of them, you may not know — as of yet. We will keep a keen eye and stopwatch to see who may be working well:
- Arklow, a 4YO Arch colt trained by Brad Cox, worked at Churchill Downs this morning. The G2 Stakes winning colt — who is coming off two straight Stakes wins in a row, including the G3 Kentucky Turf Cup at KY Downs — went a half-mile over the dirt track in :50.40. That was 48th best of 60. Maintenance move.
- C Z Rocket, who was 4th in the G1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga in his last out, went a half-mile at Churchill Downs this morning, as well. The son of City Zip, trained by Al Stall, Jr., went the distance in :49.20, which was the 33rd best time out of 60. Fast one that could be tough next time out.
- Dak Attack, a 3YO son of Ghostzapper and trained by Dale Romans, worked this a.m. The colt — who has not run since Jan. 6 in the Mucho Macho Man Stakes at Gulfstream Park — went 5 furlongs in 1:00.80. that was the 11th best time out of 44. He has now gotten nine published works since July 28. Time?
- Dream Maker, a nice 2YO colt by Tapit and trained by Mark Casse, worked under the Twin Spires this morning, too. This one has a win in two starts so far, but ran a disappointing fifth in the G1 Hopeful in the last out. This morning, he was impressive. He went 5 furlongs in :59.80, which was the 2nd best time out of the 44. This guy has a motor. Time to turn it back on.
- Farrell, a super quick 4Yo filly by Malibu Moon and trained by Wayne Catalano, didn’t show her speed and didn’t show much in the G1 Personal Ensign on Aug. 25 at Saratoga. The race before, though, she won the G3 Shuvee at Saratoga, and that was on the heels of back-to-back seconds in the G1 La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs and the G2 Fleur de Lis Handicap here, too. This morning, she went 5 furlongs in :59 flat. That was the bullet move out of the 44. Wow time.
- Strike Silver, a nice 2YO colt by Violence and trained by Casse, worked this morning at Churchill Downs. the colt, who has a win and a second in the G3 Sanford Stakes on his resume so far, went 5 furlongs in a brisk :59.80. That was tied for the second fastest time of the day at the distance.
