Editor’s Note:

It was a beautiful day to be at Churchill Downs on Saturday for the Stephen Foster Preview Day. Seven Stakes — Six of them Graded — were stashed on the card. Horses of brilliant speed, endurance, stamina and ability filled each gate. The crowd responded with cheers and, a few, drinking beers. And, our friend and ally, Holly M. Smith — now recovered from what we have defined as Kentucky Derby Fever — was on hand to capture it all the only way she can. Forever.

Holly was there. In person. With camera in hand. Talent in tow.
