Want to know the real reason to own a racehorse? You get to create memories just like these that we were able to capture at Keeneland this morning, on one of the best days of my life. I used to take my kids, Brad and Alex, to the racetrack in the mornings and to the races in the afternoon. Now, they share those experiences with their spouses and with my two grandsons.

And, when all is said and done, this is what it is all about. Right?

(Grandsons Jack, left, and Ford, right, wearing the silks of WinStar Farm and Airdrie Stud, respectively. Two of Woodford County’s best. That stands for the farms and the boys)

(Pops and Jack watching — really — the horses this a.m. at Keeneland)

(Pops and Ford — who is riding trainer Stephen Lyster’s stable pony — at the Keeneland barn area. Where else in America can you do this?)

(All three of my “boys” with “Woo” — the Stable Star. Brad, my son, is holding his sons, Ford & Jack, on their steed of the day. They both made weight)
